Industrial Crucible Furnaces
For Melting / Holding Aluminum & Metal Alloys

Crucible-type furnaces for melting aluminum and other alloys are the simplest and most flexible melting and holding furnaces for both large and small foundries. They are simple to operate, maintain and allow for quick alloy changes. With the smallest installation footprint of SINC Thermal’s product line, crucible melting furnaces for aluminum allow for close installation at point-of-use.

OEM Crucible Furnace Manufacturing – Construction & Design

When designing crucible melting / holding furnaces for aluminum and alloy casting, many considerations are taken into account. Below are some of the main requirements that we'll discuss when building your melting / holding furnace. Contact us to start discussing what's needed from your equipment and which configuration is best suited to be integrated at your facility.
Style & Configuration
Stationary, tilting and transportable versions available.
Heating
Power Source
Electric and fuel-fired: natural gas, propane, town gas, or oil.
Capacity &
Capabilities
Melt, melt & hold or hold; up to 4,000 lbs of aluminum and 18,000 lbs magnesium.
Output
Methods
Hand ladle, auto ladle, dosing/pump or direct-pour methods are available.

Additional Considerations:

– Type of charge material and mix.
– Volume demand of molten metal every hour.
– Transfer rates and ladle size.
– Holding temperature requirements.
– Alloy to be melted, held and cast; aluminum, zinc, magnesium.
– Degassing requirements prior to casting.
– Central melt or “point-of-use” melting.
– Working hours: 8x5 days shift up to 24/7 continuous.
– Burners and power-connection-points orientation and placement.
– Emergency run-out port orientation and placement.
– Manual or pneumatically-operated functions.

Lids are available in several types and styles:

– Manual lift off lid (best for smaller crucible configurations).
– Split lid:  allowing 1/2, 1/3 or 2/3 of crucible-opening access.
– Full-hinged cover/lid.
– Lift-and-swing-aside cover.
–Dome cover: allowing for ingot charging above the crucible top.

Electric Crucible Furnaces - Models & Specs

SINC Thermal provides a wide array of crucible furnaces that vary in capacity, heating power, melt rate and configuration. Please view our inventory to find the best match for your operation. Custom configurations are available. Please contact us if you would like to discuss other custom requirements.
All SINC thermal electric crucible furnaces are designed and built with the same attention to detail and have a robust steel frame with carefully selected refractory insulation for maximum efficiency. Heating elements are a common plate-style element, sized according to performance. Electric melting furnaces come in both round and square body configurations. All elements are wired-in-parallel to provide consistent performance; if one element fails the furnace will continue to operate. A power-selection option allows for energy saving during hold-only or idle periods.

Gas-Fired Crucible Furnaces - Models & Specs

SINC Thermal offers two types of gas-fired crucible furnaces. We're able to build a furnace to meet your operational needs of melt rate, volume capacity, power and specs for use. Please view our inventory of energy-efficient and compact furnaces to find the best match for your operation. Custom configurations are available. Please contact us if you would like to discuss other custom requirements. Gas-fired furnaces from SINC Thermal are designed and built with quality craftsmanship and attention to each detail. Each furnace is built around a robust steel frame and include carefully selected refractory insulation for maximum efficiency.
Compared to electrically powered furnaces, gas-fired units offer faster melting rates than electric furnaces and are suitable for higher melting point alloys such as those that are copper based. They provide excellent temperature control from the use of high turndown ratios and use easy-to-maintain package burners. SINC Thermal's gas-fired crucible furnaces are suitable for melting and/or holding alloys of aluminum, zinc, copper and magnesium. Our product line offers flexible melting and holding capacities of up to 2,400 lbs of aluminum and rates of up to 1,200 lbs/hr. These units are suitable for use with natural gas, LPG (liquid propane gas) and propane as a fuel source.
